Is Nudo Adopt legit?
If any company can claim to have invented the adopt-an-olive-tree gift, it is Nudo. Founded in 2005 by Jason Gibb and Cathy Rogers, two London TV producers who bought an abandoned 21-acre grove near Loro Piceno in Le Marche, the company turned their leap into a book (The Dolce Vita Diaries, HarperCollins), a Waitrose listing, and press from Forbes to Food52. This is the genuine article: a real history, real founders, and a two-decade paper trail most competitors in this category cannot begin to match.
Today’s Nudo is a different, less legible company. The founders sold years ago; the trademark is licensed in the UK to "K Doré," and no current leadership is named anywhere on the site. The model is a collective of small independent groves rather than a single estate: the about page says five groves across Liguria, Sicily, Tuscany and Marche, the groves page lists three (all Sicilian, all described as organically farmed, though no certification body is named), and a 2016 press release said seven. Adoption oil comes from a network, not from one hillside you could stand on.
The bigger issue is the current customer record, and it is dominated by one complaint: people paid and never got their oil. Nudo holds 3.1 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 24 reviews, 25 percent are one star, and the recent negatives cluster in 2026 around the same story of money taken and nothing shipped. One customer wrote in August: "I placed an order on July 27 and have sent 4 emails, 3 contact us messages...no response." Another, in July: "In 2026, they took my money, and I have not received any olive oil, and no response to emails." A third, in June: "I never received my January order...they are no longer delivering product but still taking my money." These are not one-off mishaps; the same non-delivery pattern repeats across buyer after buyer through the year. At the time of writing the site lists its oil as out of stock until October, and no adoption pricing is published at all.
The counterweight is real too. Long-term customers are loyal ("We’ve been using Nudo Olive Oil since 2015...no other could compare in taste and quality"), and a 2025 reviewer praised support that shipped a replacement within 48 hours. The oil, when it arrives, has two decades of satisfied customers behind it.
Our verdict: a genuine pioneer with the field’s best history and its most worrying recent months. If you are drawn to the brand, wait for stock to return, confirm current pricing, and pay by a method with buyer protection. The strict no-refund policy after payment leaves little room for error while the delivery complaints stay unresolved.
